My Top 5 Tips For Getting The Most From Your Make-Up
Perfect Makeup? No problem!
Alright ladies. We all love having perfect make-up every time we apply it, but it never quite works out that way. There is always a rouge eyebrow, or blotches of colour where they shouldn't be. It can be a serious nightmare. Well, have no fear! Here are my top 5 beauty tips for getting the best out of your make-up every time!
Tip #1 Groomed Eyebrows
Keeping your eyebrows clean and well groomed really opens up your eye area. As we get older (as we all do!) this become more necessary as the eyes tend to become hooded. To keep your eyes looking youthful, make sure your eyebrows are always in top notch condition. Brushing them upwards with an eyebrow brush and using an eyebrow gel to set them in place is a great way of making sure your brows always look ready for the red carpet. AND, always remember when you're doing your brows in the morning that "eyebrows are like sisters, not twins!"
Tip #2 Sculpting Under the Jaw
I've recently been experimenting with this, and I must admit there have been somedays where it looks like I've got a 5 o'clock shadow going on! But recently I've been getting the hang of it, and I can tell you it really makes a difference to the structure of your face! It visibly slims the area and defines the jaw line. Lift your chin until your jaw bone protrudes, then taking a dark ash-brown powder (slightly darker than your skin tone) and apply it sparingly along the bone and blend it down your neck. I've found that a darker bronzer works just as well for me, but you'll need to practice as applying to heavily does make you look a little like a man...
Tip #3 Applying Mascara
I can't tell you how many times I've tried to apply fake lashes to get those fabulously voluptuous looking lashes, and failed miserably. I end up with one sort of lined up right and the other has just gone totally haywire! But, I've recently discovered a way of applying mascara that gives you the same look (without getting fingers stuck together with eyelash glue!). If you hold the mascara wand horizontally and wiggle it right down into the roots of your lashes, and then pull it slowly out along the lashes in clean sweeps, then you add a huge amount of volume. The whole illusion of thick voluminous lashes comes from the roots, so by applying a generous amount of mascara to the base of your lashes, you're almost guaranteed 'false-looking' volume every time!
Tip #4 For Getting That Perfect Lip
I hate it when you apply a well pigmented lipstick and the colour seems really wishy-washy. But I've discovered that if you blend your foundation down over your lips (not a huge amount, just a super super super light coverage) and powdering them ever so slightly before applying the colour, then the pigment shows incredibly strong. If you're like me and you love a bold lip on a night out, then applying a lip liner to define your lips first is a definite must! Use small feathering flicks to apply the liner along the lip line and down into the centre of your lips before applying your lipstick. This also tends to make your lipstick last twice as long and it won't bleed into any cracks around your mouth.
And Finally...
Tip #5 Use a Fan Brush
I've found that when applying highlighter, a regular brush will just deposit the colour in one place and it becomes really hard to blend. Whereas a fan brush scatters the pigment evenly over the skin for a subtle gleam that every girl loves! Try the 'Models Prefer Professional Fan Brush' which is a complete bargain at $14.99
